The answer is a resounding yes. However, a tennis court is not the same as a pickleball court. You’ll need to make some pickleball marking adjustments to the court dimensions. For a quick and informal game, a tennis court will serve as a great place to play pickleball.

No, a pickleball court is much smaller than a tennis court. While there are similarities, a pickleball court has a kitchen (long, short area) toward the net where the similar position on a tennis court is in the back where players serve. At first glance, a tennis and pickleball court look identical, but the sizes and line placements are actually very different. It’s much better to temporarily transform your tennis court to pickleball regulation rather than develop bad playing habits on a larger court.

Furthermore, there are ways to customize a tennis court for pickleball. For instance, you can set up a temporary pickleball net if you want to be sure you have the correct pickleball net height. Although, if you aren’t too worried about things being perfect, the 3’-6” height of a tennis net will work just fine for a non regulation game.

Be sure to bring a tape measure to pickleball on a tennis court. That will allow you to accurately place your line markers down. Then, you’ll have the court dimensions correct when you’re ready to play. We feel it’s important to add temporary line markings even when playing with the non-regulation height net. In pickleball, it’s important to remember to avoid pushing the net and playing from the kitchen. This can be a temptation if you don’t have the proper lines.
